Universal Serial Bus, or USB was designed as a single interface for I/O devices, such as keyboards, mice, modems and other peripheral devices. The data rate if 12-Mbps, will be great enough to cover video and CD-ROM applications. With computer and peripheral equipment manufactures support, the industry is anticipating that, many devices that use serial, parallel, keyboard, mouse and game ports, will be replaced by the USB port. USB is supported by two connector types, Series A and Series B. The Series A connector will be used by devices such as mice, keyboards, joysticks, phones and other devices in which the external cable is permanently attached to the device. The Series B connector will be used in applications where a detachable cable is required, such as, printers, scanners, modems and stand alone hubs.
